Snegurochka, the Snow Maiden

A late Christmas post! Hope you all had great holidays, I sure did.
This was supposed to be posted last friday, but I didn't finish it in time. Last year we had Krampus, so this year we have Snegurochka!

Today was supposed to be a fakemon post day, but I didn't want to post this a whole week after christmas,
so I'll post this week's fakemon this friday instead, alright? Anyway...

A character from Russian fairy tales and an assistant to Father Frost or Ded Moroz, the Slavic version
of Father Christmas, helping him to deliver presents to good children on New Year's Eve. She is usually
depicted as a young girl with snow-white skin and fair hair, dressed in a blue dress and a characteristic
crown. Her origins are very unclear, as her stories started to appear around the 19th century. In one of
them, a lonely elderly couple living in the forest is unable to have children, and one day make a snow
doll which springs to life, naming her Snegurochka, whom grows very quickly into a beautiful and kind
young girl. One day out into the woods, she meets a group of girls playing and jumping around a campfire,
and decides to join them. Her turn to jump comes, but when she approaches the fire, she melts and transforms
into a white cloud. In another version, she is instead the daughter of Father Frost and Mother Spring,
and lives with them in a deep forest. She feels very lonely, as she doesn't have the ability to love,
but one day, while walking around the forest, she meets a young shepherd, whom she likes very much,
but is still unable to love him and becomes very sad. Her mother takes pity on her and gives her this
ability. When she meets the boy again her heart starts to warm up, and then she melts and transforms
into a cloud.

Being quite honest this year I was supposed to do Mithras from the Mithraic Mysteries... But he is such an
important and occult god, with such a lot of history surrounding him... And I had so little time these last weeks
and months in general that I didn't feel quite like doing it half-assed. So I moved down my mythological christmas
list and we arrive at the much simpler, but still very adorable Snegurochka.

There's not much to say about the design per se, she's a snowgirl brought to life, and I made sure to make her look
as such. Her clothes are taken directly from Snegurochka's traditional depictions, with just some touches to make it
look extra warm and fluffy. Same as with Cthulhu and Maui, I didn't feel like her design was very eye catching on its own,
plus, some context for her fairy talesque origins were very much needed, so I've included a background once again.
Been's staring at lots of Ivan Bilibin's illustrations this last week for this one!

I'm very fond of the result, I've been wanting for some time to do a cute myth post and this was exactly what I needed.
